About me

Research.
Training. Life.

I’m ZIZI — a physiotherapist, researcher and someone who enjoys the work of getting stronger and building endurance.

A thread of movement.

I studied Sports and Exercise Science at Lancaster University before completing an MSc in Physiotherapy at the University of East Anglia. My undergraduate research used treadmill testing to examine how running power, heart rate and perceived effort relate to oxygen consumption.

That connection between physiology, measurement and real training still shapes the questions I ask.

From clinical practice to research.

I completed clinical training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals. My research training at the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) spanned joint fibrosis, inflammatory arthritis and evidence synthesis.

I’m now based in Beijing as a pre-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Sports Medicine, Peking University, working across musculoskeletal imaging, medical AI and rehabilitation outcomes.

Training is part
of the picture.

Powerlifting and running have stayed part of my life throughout.

I enjoy the work of building strength and endurance: the consistency, the small adjustments and the satisfaction of doing something that was out of reach before.

It is something I do for myself, as well as something I study. And it keeps the questions about movement and recovery grounded in everyday experience.
